Successful Call for Your Prayer Needs

Our Call To Prayer Was A Huge Success

We were absolutely thrilled to hear from so many friends and supporters after our newsletter two weeks ago requesting your prayer and praise needs.  Ashley and I were able to honor those prayer requests during our time in Thailand and we hope to continue an open flow of these requests as you have needs or want to give thanks.  Thank you for trusting us in this manner!
You guys did an amazing job of praying for our event in Thailand! It was a great success for us.  Thirty members of our teams serving in South East Asia were able to travel to a wonderfully relaxing beach location where we helped host the CMM's first ever "Rest2Run" retreat.  Serving and living cross culturally can be incredibly taxing for those entering the field for the first time and the 6 month mark can be a huge "culture shock" phase.  Pulling our teams for rest and prayer at this stage gives them the opportunity to refuel and relaunch to their Kingdom work.

Above you see a cooking class Ashley arranged for the ladies where local styles and ingredients were explored.  One of the first realities you face outside of the USA is how much effort and time is spent cooking where everything is not prepackaged and microwavable.

Kenya Field Team Update

Our Kenya Field Team continues to amaze us.  Read Rupel's, center of this photo, story here.

CITAM (Christ is the Answer Ministry) Church is a Nairobi based church that has been the primary avenue for the local team.  They've developed strong relationships with the youth pastor and he has invited them to work extensively with him in mobilization and outreach training.  CITAM has a huge heart for the Indian community with a key strategic location in the heart of "Little India".

Last year, Rupel and her family threw away their idols and decided to follow only one god, Jesus.  They are now actively involved in CITAM and are praying that they can influence the Hindu community for Christ.  They are open about the hardships they now face...being exiled from their local community....but express joy in having found Jesus.  Rupel says "that makes it all worth it".

Please pray for Rupel and her family as they learn to better reach into their community and people group.  Pray for our team as they disciple and mentor her through this process and season.

Just a couple more shots

Top left:  Lillian's class took a mission trip out to Children's Garden Home and School where they spent time encouraging the resident children through play, music, art and prayer.  Ann and Lillian spent the day together sharing life and advice.  Little Ann has a lot of advice to share!
Top right: This is a geek project we are working on behind the scenes trying to develop an application to better help our field teams track and train those they are mobilizing.  We have a great working group on the project with folks from around the world participating....I fear my technology savvy is falling way behind the curve....luckily we have a ton of young bring minds on our team.
Prayer & Praise

Again, thank you for helping our Rest2Run be a huge success.  We give huge praise for that.  We are thankful the kids did just fine without us in Kenya.  We give thanks for Lillian in our lives for 16 years this weekend!

Pray for a friend that has been in jail now for nearly two months for being a pastor in the wrong part of the world.  Pray for successful ministry on a With Open Eyes team I host in a couple of weeks. For Ashley as she participates in an IF conference and I manage the household.  For us both as we host a Disciple Now youth conference team on the next weekend. Pray for mighty things to happen through us, with us and in us in all these events and adventures we are so blessed to participate in.

Please continue to send us your prayer needs and praise reports so we can join you in those.  Seriously, we want to hear from you.

Your Prayer Needs Edition

What's a mountain gorilla picking his nose have to do with ministry and prayer?

Absolutely nothing.  But it is a pretty funny post card.

January was a blast.  I had the pleasure of hosting a With Open Eyes mission team with the focus of meeting front line "Mobile Messengers" to share, encourage and pray.  The team was able to bring with them another solar powered Jesus Film backpack kit which is amazingly cool and perfect for the environment these men of God operate in.  One of the big take aways is the effectiveness and value of the training sponsored by WOE and considerations on how we can take that training deeper into the field.  Into the Northern Uganda refugee camps for those fleeing South Sudan's civil war and how to penetrate into Sudan itself with training for our pastors working behind the lines.
We are excited to have some new language versions of the Jesus Film and Magdalena.  And really excited about our additional language versions of our Center for Mission Mobilization XPlore and GoMobilize Bible studies.

Around school and home

Duncan is in the middle of basketball season.  Here he is shooting a couple of free throws after being fouled under the basket against ISK (International School of Kenya).  He scored the first baskets of each of the last two games and is gaining some confidence on the court.  Meet the latest addition to our home based safari park - Stuart the Leopard Tortoise.  As you know we have two much older ones already roaming around the grounds so Stuart fits right in as the baby of the family.

What's up on deck

February is going to be even better than January.  Ashley and I are off tomorrow to Thailand to help host our CMM Field Teams from Malaysia and China for a "Rest 2 Run" retreat.  They will be looking to be rejuvenated, prayed over, de-cultureclassed and prepared to launch back into their ministry work.  Ashley and I need your help to be fully ready, energized and in the Spirit to fulfill that need.  We will be setting aside our own dedicated time as well to pray for you as a friend and supporter.  Please heed the request below to let us know how we can best do that.  After returning from this opportunity we will be celebrating a weeding of friends here and then Lillian's 16th Birthday :) May even sneak a weekend camping trip in here at some point this month if we can make that happen.  In the midst of it all I will be trying to finalize a ,hopefully, clear and well structured plan on how the Center for Mission Mobilization recruits and launches missionaries to the field.  A subject that might sound boring but that I am geeking out about.
Prayer & Praise

"First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way."  (1 Timothy 2)

I'm not grown up enough yet for the "peaceful and quiet life" but we are very interested in your need for supplication, prayer, intercession and thanksgiving.   Send all your needs or thanksgiving to  either Ashley or I and we will do our best to do them justice during our dedicated times we are setting aside for them.

How can you be lifting our family up? So glad you asked!

  • For the children and their care givers while we are away
  • For Ashley and I - that we remain energized and are energizing to our field workers as we help minister to them
  • For our field workers as they seek to be renewed by the Spirit
  • Traveling mercies for all
  • For Lillian going on her own mission trip this Friday
  • That God's ordained publisher for the book Ella Jade illustrated picks up the project.
  • For a friend imprisoned in a North African country for over 50 days now for being a Christian pastor.  And for his family to remain strong.
